Profit breakdown (batch)
How this Albion Online silver calculator works
Refining is one of the steadiest ways to make silver in Albion Online, but the margins are thin and easy to get wrong. This tool applies the game's real economy math so you can see, before you spend a single silver, whether a refine turns a profit.
The standard refining recipe for tiers 4 and up is 1 same‑tier raw resource + 1 lower‑tier refined item per refined output. So one T5 plank needs one T5 rough log plus one T4 plank. Tiers 2 and 3 use only raw resources — set the "lower refined price" to 0 for those.
Resource Return Rate (RRR) — the key to profit
Every time you refine, the game hands back a share of your raw materials. That refund is the Resource Return Rate, and it's what makes refining worthwhile. It comes from your total production bonus B through the formula:
RRR = 1 − 1 ÷ (1 + B)
In a royal city with no bonus, B is about 0.18, giving roughly 15.2% back. Refining in the matching bonus city lifts that to around 36.7%. Turn on focus (a flat +59%) and you reach about 43.5% in a plain city or 53.9% in the bonus city. A higher RRR means each batch consumes fewer net raws, which is where most of your profit actually comes from.
Fees and market tax
Two costs eat into every sale. The station usage fee is charged on the raws you feed in (based on item nutrition), and the marketplace takes a 2.5% setup fee plus a sales tax of 4% with Premium or 8% without. This calculator subtracts all of them, so the profit shown is what genuinely lands in your wallet — not a gross figure that vanishes at the auction house.
Silver per focus
Focus is limited to 10,000 points a day, so total profit isn't the right measure when you use it — silver per focus point is. The calculator shows this figure whenever focus is on, so you can compare one refine against another and spend your daily focus where it earns the most. A common target is at least 50–100 silver per focus point.
Using it to actually make silver
Pull live prices from the auction house: the sell order price for raws and lower refined (what you'll pay), and the buy order or realistic sell price for your refined output. Pick the bonus city if you're refining the matching material, toggle focus, set your premium status, and read the net profit. If it's green, the batch makes silver; if it's red, adjust the city, focus, or wait for prices to move.
Frequently asked questions
How do you make silver refining in Albion Online?
Buy raws, refine them into bars/planks/leather/cloth/stone, and sell the refined for more than the raws cost. The return rate refunds part of your materials each batch, and refining in the bonus city with focus raises that refund, turning thin margins into real silver.
What is Resource Return Rate (RRR)?
The share of raw materials returned after a refine, from RRR = 1 − 1/(1 + B). Roughly 15.2% in a royal city, 36.7% in the bonus city, and up to 53.9% with focus in the bonus city.
Does using focus increase profit?
Yes — focus adds a flat +59% to the production bonus, raising return rate to about 44% (plain city) or 54% (bonus city). Judge it by silver per focus point, since focus is capped at 10,000/day.
What tax and fees apply?
A 2.5% marketplace setup fee, a 4% (Premium) or 8% (no Premium) sales tax, and the station usage fee on the raws. This tool subtracts all three.
Which city is best for refining?
Each royal city boosts one material — refine ore, hide, fiber, wood or stone in its matching bonus city for the higher return rate, even if you bought the raws somewhere cheaper.
